# Privacy Policy

This policy describes what happens to data you give to **www.kanaeru.ai**, the
marketing website operated by Kanaeru AI (Kanaeru Labs), Osaka, Japan. It
describes the site's actual behaviour - each item below corresponds to code that
runs on this site.

Client project data handled during a paid engagement is governed by the contract
and NDA for that engagement, not by this page.

## What we collect

**Contact form.** Name, email address, company, project type and your message.
Submitted only when you press send.

**Newsletter form.** Your email address.

**Live chat.** The messages you type, a randomly generated session id stored in
your browser, the page you started the chat from, and the referring URL. We do
not ask for your name or email in chat.

**Discovery call booking.** Scheduling is handled by Calendly, embedded on this
site. Calendly collects the name, email and answers you type into its form.

**Analytics.** Aggregate usage data: pages viewed, approximate region, device and
browser type, and performance timings. We use PostHog for product analytics and
Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for performance. Analytics requests are
proxied through `www.kanaeru.ai/ingest` so they are not blocked, but the data
still goes to PostHog.

**Server logs.** Our hosting provider records standard request logs, including IP
address and user agent, for security and debugging.

We do **not** collect payment card details on this website, and we do not run
advertising or cross-site tracking pixels.

## Why we collect it

- To answer you. Contact, chat and booking data exists so a human can reply.
- To send the newsletter you asked for.
- To understand which pages are useful and where the site is slow.
- To keep the site available and defend it against abuse.

## Who receives it

We use these processors, each under their own terms:

- **Resend** - delivers contact and newsletter emails to our inbox.
- **Slack** - receives live chat messages in a private internal channel.
- **Pusher** - delivers chat replies back to your browser in real time.
- **Calendly** - handles discovery call scheduling.
- **PostHog** - product analytics.
- **Vercel** - hosting, Analytics and Speed Insights.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone outside this
list except where the law requires it.

## Cookies and local storage

This site stores a small amount of data in your browser:

- Your light/dark theme preference.
- A chat session id, so a returning visitor sees their earlier conversation.
- PostHog analytics identifiers.

No cookie is used for advertising. Clearing your browser storage removes all of
them; the site keeps working without them.

## How long we keep it

- Contact and chat messages: as long as the conversation is commercially relevant, then deleted on request.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics: retained under PostHog's and Vercel's standard retention.

## Your choices

Email **support@kanaeru.ai** to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected,
or to have it deleted. We act on deletion requests within 30 days. You can
unsubscribe from the newsletter from any email we send. Browser-level
Do Not Track and analytics blockers are respected - the site is fully functional
with analytics blocked.

## International transfers

Our processors operate infrastructure outside Japan, including in the United
States and the European Union. Submitting data to this site means it may be
processed in those regions.

## Children

This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children under 16. We do
not knowingly collect their data.

## Changes

Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the "last updated" date
above. Substantive changes will also be noted on the site.
